Changing Your Habits with the 4 Changes of Competence (part 4)

Changing your habits is a hard thing to do.

In the final part of ou series on Four Stages of Competence’ (part 1, part 2 and part 3 here) we look at Unconscious Competence.

CORD Technique: time management UNCONSCIOUS COMPETENCE

Think about how you drive now!

You’re no longer thinking about mirror-signal- manoeuvre; you’re talking to the person next to you about what you’re going to eat for your dinner.

Or you might even be sat there eating your dinner whilst you drive! You’re taking phone calls (naughty you!), thinking about other things, listening to podcasts, the radio or an audio book and generally the driving part of what you’re doing is pretty effortless.

It’s a habit. You don’t need to think about your driving; you just drive.
