Craft the Perfect Productivity Playlist

Do what you enjoy, and enjoy what you do. Life is meant for living, and that includes having fun whilst you are on your way to conquering the world as a Productivity Ninja! So why not put on your favorite tunes whilst being productive in your day? Here is how you can create the perfect Productivity Playlist:

Firstly, you need to address what you’re trying to be productive in before we can determine what music you should add to your Productivity Playlist. Decide whether you need music to help you concentrate during a workout, your work life, or the everyday mundane activities.

Instrumental Music

It has been said that listening to instrumental music helps increase a person’s concentration and productivity. This is because lyrics tend to distract people from their work, as their minds quietly sing along to the song. Relaxing forms of music are said to produce a higher work ethic in people, compared to those who don’t listen to music at all. If you have a deadline that is soon to be due, classical music is more ideal to help you focus and make you feel relaxed and less anxious.

Gear Up

On the other hand, if you are preparing for a presentation or any other form of work that requires you to be confident, or even a workout session, relaxing instrumental music is perhaps less ideal in this scenario, as it could just send you into sleep mode. Sometimes, you do need to listen to music with lyrics that will help you to kick into gear. Music that makes you want to dance is perfect! Just don’t select songs that make you want to dance and forget about your work altogether!

Timer

You can use your Productivity Playlist as a way to monitor how much time you want to dedicate to your work. Create the length of your playlist according to how much time you desire to spend on your work/task, almost like a form of a subconscious timer. Killing two birds with one stone – music to help with productivity and time management.

Great Escape

Music is perfect for an escape from a noisy workplace whilst you’re in the midst of a task. As a result, ‘music engages the brain over a period of time,’ and helps build our attention span. Just make sure you listen to music that is not distracting, but good enough to help you block out all the distractions around you.
